Optimal recovery of thermal energy in liquid air energy storage

چکیده
The increasing share of renewables in energy systems requires storage technologies to handle intermittent sources and varying sinks. Liquid air (LAES) is a promising technology since it has high density not geographically constrained. A relatively round-trip efficiency (RTE) obtained by using hot cold recovery cycles the LAES. In this work, seven cases related different are optimized compared for standalone LAES system. Multi-component fluid (MCFCs) Organic Rankine Cycles (ORCs) considered first time be used as optimal results show that system with dual MCFC best performance an RTE 62.4%. This can further increased 64.7% reducing minimum temperature difference high-temperature heat exchangers from 10 °C 5 °C. Optimization also indicate ORCs producing any only phase change working takes place, thus they should used. Finally, exergy transfer effectiveness applied measure thermodynamic charging discharging processes. • Increased use storage. Surplus power stored liquid air. Round-trip improved cycles. improve ratio 64.7%.

Energy efficiency in a building complex through seasonal storage of thermal energy in a confined aquifer
Confined aquifers are formations surrounded by impermeable layers called cap rocks and bed rocks. These aquifers are suitable for the seasonal storage of thermal energy. A confined aquifer was designed to meet the cooling and heating energy needs of a residential building complex located in Tehran, Iran. The annual cooling and heating energy needs of the buildings were estimated to be 8.7...
متن کاملUsing Dynamic Thermal Rating and Energy Storage Systems Technologies Simultaneously for Optimal Integration and Utilization of Renewable Energy Sources
Nowadays, optimal integration and utilization of renewable energy sources (RES) are of the most challenging issues in power systems. The wind and solar generation units' maximum production may or may not occur at peak consumption times resulting in non-optimal utilization of these resources. As a solution to this problem, energy storage systems (ESS) are embedded in networks. However, the power...
متن کاملAdiabatic compressed air energy storage – a study on dynamic performance with thermal energy storage
Up to day, 70% of the gross electricity (~ 20000 TWh) is produced via fossil fuel; to reduce this share and abate CO2 emissions the energy system will face a dramatic change in the near future consisting in a significant introduction of intermittent renewable energy sources. The implementation of this step change will be possible only through efficient and economic grid-scale electrical energy ...
متن کاملAdiabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage with packed bed thermal energy storage
The majority of articles on Adiabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage (A-CAES) so far have focussed on the use of indirect-contact heat exchangers and a thermal fluid in which to store the compression heat. While packed beds have been suggested, a detailed analysis of A-CAESwith packed beds is lacking in the available literature. This paper presents such an analysis. We develop a numerical model ...
